Start of Game

Both teams start with one ball. Starting shot decided by a coin flip. The Club Gemini Beer Pong appointed referee will assign each team heads or tails. Winner chooses which team shoots first. After the first shot, teams will shoot 2 balls thereafter, alternating shots between team members (i.e. both players will shoot one ball per possession).

"Bring It Back"

  • · If a team sinks both of their shots, they will receive (2) balls back
  • · If a team sinks both of their shots in the same cup, they will receive (2) balls back and removal of (1) extra cup of the defender's choice (resulting in 3 cups removed).
  • · If a team sinks both of their shots, one shot being a bounced shot, they will receive (2) balls back and the removal of (1) extra cup of the defender's choice (resulting in 3 cups removed).
  • · If a team sinks both of their shots in the same cup, one shot being a bounced shot, they will receive (2) balls back and the removal of (2) extra cups of the defender's choice (resulting in 4 cups removed).
  • · If a team sinks both of their shots, both being bounced shots, they will receive (2) balls back and the removal of (2) extra cups of the defender's choice (resulting in 4 cups removed).
  • · If a team sinks both of their shots in the same cup, both being bounced shots, they will receive (2) balls back and the removal of (3) extra cups of the defender's choice (resulting in 5 cups removed).
  • · "Throw-backs" (balls falling in cups while returning the balls) are not permitted and will not result in a lost cup.

"Re-Rack"

Cups will be "rearranged" into tight triangle formations in the center-back of the table at 6-cups and 3-cups. Cups knocked out of formation, regardless of fault, will be returned to their original location at the request of the shooter. The last cup can be moved to the center-back of the table at the request of the shooter.

Interference

· A player must not interfere with a ball that is "in play" (not yet hit the table or a cup). This means that bouncing is permitted and a plunk will count for two (2) cups if it plunks a cup. Grabbing of any shot "in play" will result in a one cup penalty.

Defense

  • · Grabbing and swatting is allowed after the ball has hit a cup or the table, unless the ball is already "in" the cup. Any ball that is blown or fingered out of a cup, will count as a plunk on that cup.
  • · Balls that hit objects that are "out of play" (previously hit cups, beer cans, etc) are considered dead and can not come back into play and hit cups.
  • · No penalty for dropping the ball in your own cup.
  • · Distractions are allowed as long as the person's entire body is behind the edge of the table (including hands). This rule applies to spectators as well. Non-game participants standing next to the table may not distract a shooter in any way, unless they too are behind the edge of the other end of the table. Once a shot is thrown player's hands may go over the table to defend "out of play shots" (bouncing shots or shot that have already hit a cup). If the second shot is thrown prior to the first throw being completely defended, the shooter forfeits all distraction rule restrictions.

Winning the Game:

  • · After the last cup has been hit, the turn is over (no second shots or "Bring It Backs"). The other team will get both balls and have a chance to force overtime by hitting all of their remaining cups (standard "rearranges" and "Bring It Back" rules apply).
  • · Overtime will be 3-cups arranged in a tight triangle formation at the back-center-back of the table. The team that hit their last cup first will start with both balls.
  • · Same rules apply during overtime as during regular play.
  • · If the team can not force overtime, they lose.
  • · All disputes are settled by the Club Gemini Beer Pong appointed referees. All referee decisions are final. Arguing with the referee will result in removal from the tournament and forfeiture of all entry fees.

State of Maine Liquor Law

  1. · No participant of the tournament may consume alcoholic beverages during a game in which he/she is playing. Participants may only consume beverages containing alcohol before, after and between games for which their team is playing.
  2. · Failure to obey to the law will result in immediate disqualification, forfeiture of all entry fees, and persons will be removed from the premise.
